1995 Beautiful hill with good views over Loch Hourn and over to Ladhar Bheinn. Very steep ascent from Arnisdale. Circuit walk returning to Arnisdale by the undulating road along the lochside.Alex walked the way through the small forest to the route in the west. We caught him by car.
1996 Winteraufstieg. Steiler Aufstieg und grandioses Wetter. Die gewählte Tour führte nicht direkt über den ersten Gipfel sondern in nördlicher RIchtung darum zurück zur Ridge durch Coire Mih. Auf dem Gipfel warteten Claus und Birgit sowie eine andere Gruppe. Wunderbarer Ausblick Richtung Knoydart und zum Meer. Zurück nach Arnisdale entlang der Straße am Loch. Traumhafter Tag.
Description Beinn Sgritheall is a very impressive mountain which rises directly on the north side of Loch Hourn in a single sweep from the water's edge to the narrow crest. High up on its seaward face vast scree slopes and shattered crags give the mountain an intimidating appearance, but no one should consider attempting the ascent directly up these slopes. The north side of Beinn Sgritheall has several wild and remote corries, but they are relatively unfrequented as it is a long walk in to them. A good traverse of the mountain can be made by its west and east ridges, approaching from the road along the side of Loch Hourn. Starting to the south-west of the mountain, climb uphill through the Coille Mhialairigh to reach the west ridge near a small loch. Climb this ridge to the summit and traverse the south-east ridge, crossing a minor top and descending steeply to the Bealach Arnasdail. Finally go down steep slopes southwards in the corrie above Arnisdale.
